Students will be led - step-by-step - through a series of fundamental forging techniques that will enable them to produce two finished projects: a toasting fork and a wall hook. Samples of traditional and contemporary forged work will be shown. We will also discuss the ergonomics and functionality of each object. Students will first draw the object they’ll be forging as a way of encouraging close observation of general shape, proportions, surface texture, and various forged details. No previous metalworking or drawing experience is necessary.  All that’s required is a sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn.

All materials, safety equipment, coffee and tea will be provided.

COST:  $380.00 + HST +  registration fee  ($20.22)

" Sandra Dunn is an excellent teacher, gives clear explanations and is a supportive instructor. Works with students from where they are at. First timers taking a blacksmith and copper smithing with Sandra leave with a product with both form and function. The shop lattes are an added bonus. I took a coppersmithing course and came back for the blacksmithing too. "
