Introduction to Coppersmithing
Coppersmithing: Level 1

This 2 day course offers an introduction to the material properties of copper and the basic skills and techniques involved in forming and joining it: hollowing and raising, planishing, chasing and repoussé, soft soldering and riveting. Students will complete a variety of small projects over the course of the weekend: a bowl, three fold formed objects, a raised image in copper sheet and a sample piece showing both soldered and riveted joinery.

Class runs from 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday with a 1h lunch. All materials, safety equipment, coffee and tea will be provided. Lunch is available in town / an indoor lunch area with a microwave and fridge is provided on site if you bring your own food. Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
