Blacksmithing: Level 1
This 1 day course is perfect for anyone who has always wanted to try blacksmithing!
We will teach you several fundamental forging techniques as we lead you step-by-step through the process of forging a traditional hook.
Then we will explore design possibilities for hooks. Using the skills you acquired, you will apply them to your own creative designs.
The finished objects will be treated with hot beeswax.
No previous metalworking or drawing experience is necessary. All that’s required is a sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn!
Class runs from 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday with a 1h lunch. All materials, safety equipment, coffee and tea will be provided. Lunch is available in town / an indoor lunch area with a microwave and fridge is provided on site if you bring your own food. Please wear closed-toe shoes, cotton shirts and long pants.
