Ron Doyle

I first met Ron Don Doyle in 2003. He walked into my shop, spat on the floor, sat dawn on one of the anvils and lit up a cigarette. At that point he still owned Alloy Castings in New Hamburg. He said he was going to sell his business and become a sculptor and the first sculpture he was going to build was Don Quixote. We ended up doing a number of projects for Ron at Hacienda Sarria. The last project we completed was the sculpture of Don Quixote, Sancho Panza and the windmill.

Don Quixote

It was a sculpture marathon. Ron was bored so we invited him and Louie to help out. Meghan Carter, Mike Armstrong, Jeff Helmes, Dimitra Maluzynsky, Adam Woodward all worked to make this project happen. I met Aimie Botelho who now works with me full time, through my friend, Peter von Tiesenhausen. She made Sancho Panza’s boots.
