This one-day course is a perfect introduction to forging for the beginner, or for those with some experience looking to learn some new forging techniques. You will learn how to heat up metal to the correct temperature in a coke fuelled forge and shape it using a hammer and anvil. Some of the skills you will learn are:

• How to create a hole in hot metal

• How to use different surfaces of the anvil to make different shapes

• Using a guillotine tool

• Using a variety of top tools

• Proper hammer technique

• How to tell when the steel is hot

• How to safely use a forge and forging tools
  

This is one day course. Class runs from 9am-5pm.

All materials, safety equipment, coffee and tea will be provided. Lunch is available in town / an indoor lunch area with a microwave and fridge is provided on site if you bring your own food. Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
